There is a scientific way of determining just how long products will last when jarred. The Norwegian army is scientific, they are among the best in the field when it comes to combat rations. Other nations have either bought from them, or learnt from them, in creating meals that are tasty and fresh even after long periods in storage.
However, the Norwegian army also know one or two things about the English language, and they would readily agree that “the taste of the pudding is in the eating”. They therefore take time, every once in a while, to examine samples of their rations and ensure that they behave just as it says on the jar!
I had the privilege of working in Fornebu, just outside Oslo, for about two years. One of the highpoints of my times in Norway was the privilege of taking a train from town and hitting the ski slopes within an hour of leaving work. Absolutely amazing! I only wish I had a jar or two of Èkó Street with me; that would certainly have livened things up and kept the throat nice and clear 🙂
We like Norway and the Norwegian army. Like them, we taste our own brews from time to time, it is not only that we enjoy them so much, or that we are trying to deprive customers of the gems. It is just that we take our duty and responsibility quite seriously; especially in cold weather, with coughs, COVID, flu and other nasties hanging around. Every time we take a sample out of the archives, we are ensuring that your jar will be just as fresh as when we made it. Here is a promise: we will not take so many into the testing archives that we deprive you of our elixirs of delight.
Some of the January to March archives of year 2020 were safely tæsted 🙂 in April 2021.
